Amazing Grace

I went with my Mommy and sister to see Amazing Grace on Sunday. I believe I was expecting something a little different heading to see the movie though. Often times I get caught in the “feeling” of things, and that is what was expected of the movie. When I think of the song “Amazing Grace” the only thing that comes to mind is the feeling that comes from singing the song. It’s just one of those songs that sends chills down my spine every time I hear it or sing it… obviously in order for a movie to do the same thing for the entirety would be something miraculous in itself since it takes a lot to send chills down my spine… I’m a pretty callous person and for something to be so profound as to provoke so much emotion inside of me is something else all together.

Needless to be stated at this point the movie was not about a song, or an emotion, but rather about a man with the courage to stand against unrelenting adversity. Just like all of us though, he got discouraged, ill, beaten down, and felt like quitting at times. A little encouragement from his friends, and loved ones kept him going. Every time he was beaten down he got back up again, that is where the difference lies. The world is not changed by perfect people, or even perfect intentions it is changed by those that get in the face of adversity and fight every day non-stop.

Some people have called my stubbornness foolish, but I tend to disagree (naturally). In my opinion anything worth fighting for is worth fighting for until the end. Unless you can prove me wrong, my word stands, and it will stand as long as I have breath to keep it alive.
