“My name is Dalton Russell. Pay strict attention to what I say because I choose my words carefully and I never repeat myself.” - Dalton Russell, Inside Man

If you’ve not seen the movie Inside Man I highly encourage it. I love that as the opening line of the movie. This isn’t really about Inside Man, but rather about some of my obsessive compulsive traits. I know that I usually try to steer away from explaining the titles to my posts, but in this case it just makes it easier to do so :-P (not to mention in order to keep publishing content I need something a little faster). Anyways, if you’ve not noticed I’m a wordsmith of sorts. I love to use repartee and to manipulate words. One of the biggest ways I like to fight people is to do exactly what they say, because most people don’t pay enough attention to what they say. This gets me in trouble a lot but it’s fun :-D
If I like you and respect you I will correct what you say in my head and do exactly what you WANT me to do and not what you tell me to do… but if you’ve annoyed me, or I’m tired I take my vengeance out by doing just what you’ve asked me to do. Funny thing is at work I do special instructions and these people annoy me all the time, and I often do exactly as they ask… but if the person is polite then I will do a good job on their pages. Anyways, work has been slim, and we’ve been sent home, luckily the managers and peeps above me like me so they try to find other jobs that could be done… one day they sent me and Zack to the back where when we got there they told us to “build boxes” then showed us where we could find the boxes and how they wanted them assembled… problem is no one ever said stop… Sure after 3 hours of building boxes people started looking at us weird, and obviously wondering if we would ever stop filling up their work area with boxes… but no one ever said to. So we just kind of kept on building boxes, and kept filling up our area with hundreds of boxes…

I dunno, maybe it’s not that entertaining to you guys, but it sure was to Zack and myself.

The Network

Wow, so you guys will be noticing some changes around here! (well the one person who reads this may :-P ). I plan on starting to post every day, generally I don’t because I like to let stories sit with me for a while as I formulate the perfect storyline out of it… that’s not going to happen so much anymore. Going to try and post a new story every day… or well at least queue up one for every day. Such as this story was actually written yesterday! But with the big G it looks better when a new story is posted every day.

As some of you know I’ve got 11 websites, and none of them really make me much money, they kind of support themselves, but not really “making” anything from them. What Jordan and I have decided is that we are going to create and open blogs on each one of them and pimp ‘em out. All of them need to be networked together and have stories coming in every day, so that’s what we’re going to be up to! The goal here is $100 per day by the end of 3 months (for myself at least, Jordan has a much grander scheme in mind).

Anyways, if you see lackluster stories, and more content than usual this is why… I will TRY to keep this site mostly unique and new stories every day but I can’t really promise because I don’t really write that much… but I’ll find stuff to talk about. Start by reviewing all the movies I’ve ever seen, make up crud daily, and possibly start quoting unique content like Home Star Runner.

300

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Well I did end up making it out to see 300 with Zack and Stephanie from work (not because they found my blog, but rather because I regurgitated my stalker skills from back in high school and found them.)  As was expected the movie did contain much blood, death, and carnage!  Woot!!  None the less several things about the movie bothered me in a historical respect.  Now I know that very little is actually known about the battle of Thermopylae but there are some very clear historical facts that were ignored.  Three specifically that stood out to me.

First off a little history and background of the Spartans:

The Spartans were warriors, as was depicted in the movie their profession was war, death, and destruction.  I don’t think it was clearly shown from the movie but the festival that they ignored to go to battle was the only time during the year that they were home.  The Spartans lived at war, away from home, and only returned once a year to mate.  Spartan women were used only to produce children, and wouldn’t of been listened to like Leonidas listened to his wife in the movie… yes, the Spartans did consider their women higher than other women the only ones worthy of carrying Spartan children, but they still weren’t respected as such portrayed in the movie.  Also, the Spartans were homosexual… which I found it very odd that Leonidas made fun of the Athenians for liking boys… The idea was that if you loved the man next to you, you were more likely to stand next to him and die if necessary.

Now for the battle itself:

When the Persians arrived they sent scouts to see what they were up against, one of Xerxes commanders observed Leonidas and his 300 men doing what was described as naked calisthenics.  Understanding the implications of said ritual he returned to Xerxes to report the news urging him to attack then.  Xerxes laughed at the commanders notion and said to let them have their rituals they would be dead by nightfall.  In allowing the ritual to continue he gave them a huge advantage.  One thing about the movie that was somewhat disturbing was that the Spartans fought half naked the whole time… Ok, nobody goes into battle naked, and the Spartans had amazing armour (much better than most anyone else of the time because they got the very best of the pick after winning battles and wars).  So in essence what the commander that reported to Xerxes was saying was “hey look, these guys don’t have their armour on, and they’re currently gettin’ each other from behind, so lets attack while we have a chance.”

Xerxes:

The last thing, may seem minor, but actually bothered me quite a bit.  By this point in time of history Xerxes would of been married to Esther.  The whole traveling harem he had with him… yeah, not gonna happen.  When he married Esther his harem was left as a place for female slaves to be separate from the guys, and nothing more.  Not to mention NOBODY brought their harem with them to battle…. I mean besides just the fact that it’s a ridiculous notion no great warrior and king such as Xerxes would want to distract his troops with them.

That’s about all that really bothered me… There’s not really much to base 300 off of so just make sure that there is lots of blood, lots of death, and a good amount of carnage you should be good.  Some of the artistic license that was taken with the movie, such as exaggerating the rhino’s and the elephants seemed to work really well, since they would of been foreign to the Spartans  so making them foreign and crazy looking in the movie really worked.  Soundtrak was awesome too!  Most definitely added greatly to the mood in my opinion.

Wrong number

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Yeah, so depending upon how resourceful Stephanie and Zack are we might go see 300 tonight. Here’s the thing, with the new number and all I get confused… I know 841, and then two of the last four numbers is 82 the year my mom got married, then 95 which I remember because my mom was trying to remember it and said that it was the year she got married and then Brittney’s birth year, which was crazy because she was born in 89 so I was rather confused… either way I got them out of order. My number is 816-841-9582 and not 8295 like I had said. So if you’re resourceful enough to either know that I struggled with remembering the number and said the last two numbers in groups possibly switching them, or just come here and see that I’m a moron.

I’ll probably head up to AMC Barrywoods at around 8:00 since there is an 8:15, of course there is also a later showing might stick around to see what happens.
